On Friday, April 24th 2026, three individuals and one group from our lab presented research at the Undergraduate Research Symposium. We are so proud of our members for their contributions and efforts towards their research.
Phiphi Dinh presented about "Development of an In-Vitro Image Velocimetry Flow Loop for Studying Cerebral Aneurysm Hemodynamics & Function" where she's using PIV techniques to examine blood flow dynamics within cerebral aneurysms.
Andrea Bowling presented on "Shape Retention and Recovery in Shape Memory Polymer Foams: Implications for Aneurysm Treatment" where she examines the durability, shape retention, and recovery time of SMP foams through repeated compression tests.
Shubi Singhal presented about "Investigation of Time Dependent Mechanical Properties due to Elastin Degradation in Porcine Mitral Valve Anterior Leaflets" where she tests how elastin degradation affects the mechanical behavior of mitral valve tissue.
The Right Heart Simulator (RHS) Team (Yasmin Eltwafsha, Tiffany Ian, and Taha Khan) presented on "Enabling In-Vitro Tricuspid Valve Evaluation via the Right Heart Simulator" where they are creating an RHS model that can quantify tricuspid valve leaflet strain through photogrammetry analysis. They will be presenting this research at the Senior Design Showcase on May 29th, 2026.
