Congratulations to Dr. Lee and Collaborators from Lehigh University (Dr. Jihong Wang and Dr. Yue Yu) and University of Arkansas (Dr. William Richardson) on their recent conference paper at the 2025 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP)! Their paper, “A Physics-Guided Smoothing Method For Material Modeling With Digital Image Correlation (DIC) Measurements,” introduces a novel approach to process the DIC measurements of multiple biaxial stretching protocols. The team optimized the smoothed nodal displacements with a moving least-squares algorithm subject to positive strain constraints. Their work was able to significantly improve the accuracy of modeling biological materials.
