The Biomechanics & Biomaterials Design Laboratory
About BBDL
Associate Professor Chung-Hao Lee's Biomechanics & Biomaterials Design Laboratory (BBDL) focuses on addressing several clinically significant cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease problems from a biomechanics and engineering design's perspective, including personalized brain aneurysm treatment, simulation-guided management of cardiac valve function/dysfunction in congenital heart defects, and tissue engineering for cardiovascular therapies.
Our research projects are highly interdisciplinary and collaborative in nature and we aim to develop computational and experimental techniques to provide next-generation solutions to the above-mentioned clinical problems with improved therapeutic outcome. Our team involves collaborators from the nation and around the world (e.g., University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Iowa State University, Indiana University School of Medicine, Lehigh University, UC San Diego, University of Glasgow in UK, Zhejiang University in China, National Taiwan University in Taiwan), that synergizes expertise in bioengineering (both experimentation and in-silico modeling), cardiac/neurosurgery, biostatistics, and data science/artificial intelligence. We welcome motivated students, who are passionate about learning new biomechanics/bioengineering knowledge and conducting innovative research, to join our research lab at UCR Bioengineering.
